Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is a catch-all term, commonly referred to as a lawsuit. Whether you need to file suit, defend yourself in a suit, or are hoping to avoid costly litigation, we can help guide you through the process.

We offer a free consultation in which we review the facts of your case and help you decide how to proceed. Sometimes, even if a situation feels deeply unfair, the law might not be on your side. This is why it is important to have an experienced attorney review your case before you file a complaint or a response in court.

If you are filing a lawsuit and expecting monetary compensation, our fees will usually be determined by your outcome. You've seen the commercials; "We don't get paid unless you get paid." However, there may be costs associated with litigation that need to be paid up front - expert witnesses, property valuations, etc.

If you are defending yourself against a lawsuit, you'll need to pay hourly for your defense work.

Judge

Previous civil litigation our office has been involved in:

  • Worker's compensation for injuries sustained on the job

  • Separation of property after the dissolution of a long-term relationship that did not require a divorce

  • Landlord-tenant disputes (we have represented both landlords and tenants)

  • HOA disputes (We do not represent HOAs, under any circumstances)

  • Orders of Protection

  • Traffic infractions (it is usually cheaper to simply pay these fines, but not always, and you might have reasons for fighting a citation aside from finances)

  • Collecting judgments, liens, and other garnishments

  • Breach of contract and other contract disputes

  • Civil lawsuits tied to criminal matters

  • Spousal and child support arrears, negotiations, and enforcement

  • Insurance claims

We offer a free 60-minute consultation.
